Lectures, Presentations, and Conferences

The Cold War Museum hosts a variety of educational lectures, presentations, and conferences throughout the year. On October 14th, 2006, the museum co hosted an event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Polish and Hungarian Uprisings.

1956 UprisingVarious board members are available to give presentations on such topics as The History of Overhead Reconnaissance, Intelligence and Counter Intelligence Operations, and or The Development of The Cold War Museum.

Cold War Museum Founder, Francis Gary Powers, Jr., gives a 1/2 hour or 1 hour presentation on the U-2 Incident of May 1, 1960 and the Cold War Museum. During the lecture, Gary shows video segments on the U-2 Incident and the Cold War Museum. A Question and Answer session follows the presentation. Gary gives over 60 lectures per year and has lectured to audiences at the CIA, DIA, NSA Cryptologic Museum, Rotary Clubs and numerous service organizations. He has been the keynote speaker at several military reunions across the country.

In addition, Gary has made International presentations at the Bodo Aviation Museum in Bodo, Norway, The Contemporary History Museum in Leipzig, Germany, and the Allied Museum in Berlin, Germany. In May 2004, Cold War Museum supporter, Baerbel Simon, gave a presentation at an International Conference on Cold War preservation in Berlin, Germany.
